Carl Koenemann, 25, is a Senior Financial Analyst for Walgreens. He has worked in the financial sector since graduating from Saint Louis University in 2011.
Carl spent all of his childhood in Fox River Grove, Illinois. After deciding to go to college in St. Louis, he returned to Illinois. Currently, he lives in Des Plaines – located outside of the city of Chicago.
Living a healthy lifestyle is something that Carl takes very seriously. He tries to cook his own meals whenever possible and makes sure that a workout is in his daily routine.
Since he was a young kid, Carl Koenemann has always been interested in cooking. He spent countless hours in the kitchen with his Italian grandmother – as a result, garlic has become a staple in a variety of his dishes. Carl mostly cooks Mediterranean and Italian food. His favorite dish is chicken cacciatore – one that he learned to cook a long time ago. If he wants to make the dish a bit healthy, he substitutes spaghetti squash instead of noodles.
Carl has experimented with a variety of seafood such as octopus and oysters.
“The most interesting thing I’ve done is experimenting with live lobster – the only food I’ve made that bites back a short time before eating.”
In his free time, Carl enjoys lifting weights and water sports. He has tried a variety of workouts – Crossfit, Bigger Faster Stronger, Yoga – you name it, he’s done it. Outside of the gym, Carl is always looking for new investment opportunities.
Carl Koenemann has spent numerous hours volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club.
“Having an impact on lives of children without role models is an indescribable experience. It brings more joy, satisfaction and understanding than words can describe.”
After picking up a guitar in the sixth grade, Carl Koenemann has been playing ever since. He attributes his love of the guitar to AC/DC. In high school, Carl was in a punk rock band with three of his friends. As his musical taste developed, however, he began to fall in love with the blues.
Carl notes that he still remembers discovering Napster back in 1999. He would spend numerous hours searching for John Mayer songs and even took credit for the song “Your Body Is a Wonderland.” Unfortunately, Carl had absolutely zero influence on the song.
Before working for Walgreens, Carl was part of the European financial division for the McDonald’s Corporation. There, Carl gained invaluable experience after working closely with the corporate financial management team.
Carl began his financial career at Deloitte consulting. There, he worked as an auditor – something that is necessary if going into the financial sector.
Additionally, Carl has begun serving on the Auxiliary Board as the Vice President of Finance for Feeding Mouths Filling Minds. This organization is dedicated to the fight against childhood hunger, and helps the cause by establishing self-sustainable food supplies that will be allocated to orphanages, schools, and communities across the globe. Carl is excited to join the organization, and is committed to this cause. There are a number of ways you could dedicate your time and resources to help this organization reach its goals. If you have the time to volunteer, you could go abroad and help the cause on the front lines. Alternatively, you could sponsor a fundraising event at your local church, school, or office. Carl Koenemann is ecstatic to be recently engaged, and is currently planning his wedding for May of 2015.
